The Korean War
Red Clay & Yellow Shields
For 18 months, the 1st Cavalry Division marched up and down the Korean Peninsula. They sailed from Tokyo to Pohang-dong before fighting their way south to Pusan. Beginning as raw recruits fighting a pitched battle at Pusan all the way to veteran troops marching in Pyongyang, the 1st Cavalry Division fought some of the toughest battles of the Korean War. The division was the cornerstone of UN strategic power during the opening days of the war.

This page is dedicated to my grandmother, Barbara Duvall. My grandmother survived the Korean War as a refugee in Suwon, South Korea. Her brother was executed while held as a prisoner of war by the North Korean military.
